Meet Ambassador Shametrice

Q:How long have you been an Ambassador and why did you decide to take the job?

A: I’ve been here since around the end of February. After reading the qualifications, I saw this was a chance to give back. We work with people experiencing homelessness and help them out. I thought that would be my place. I’ve always wanted to give back. I thought this would be my way to help. Plus, I get to make animal balloons for the kids.

Q: What’s your favorite part about being an Ambassador?

A: I love making animal balloons for the kids visiting Downtown and getting to see the looks on their faces.

Q: What are some of your day-to-day tasks?

A: On Thursdays and Mondays, I clean. I get out and keep the roadways clean for people to walk. On the weekends I help visitors at our info cart and give people information about shopping, directions, and good food.

Q: What do you want people visiting Downtown to know?

A: They can always come down here and walk around and know they’ll have plenty of entertainment, food, and can feel safe. There’s a variety of different things to check out and Downtown always has different things going on.

Q: What are some of your favorite places in the BID?

A: Something I haven't done is High Point Climbing Gym, but it’s a place you can go to climb, and it’s a good exercise. We have wings, burgers, pizza, and good quality upscale restaurants Downtown. Chattanooga is a good place to come and be.
