Steve Hunt, Chairman of the Chattanooga BID, called the meeting to order. Executive Committee members attending were Kelly Fitzgerald, Charles Perry, and Gordon Stalans.
Also present was Steve Brookes, Executive Director of the DCA.
2. Old Business
None to report.
3. New Business
(a) S. Hunt reported on his orientation conversation with two new board members, Kevin Love and Adam Kinsey.
(b) Ember Souchet has decided to roll off the board. She has suggested that Tom Marshall replace her.
(c) S. Brookes reported that more care needs to be taken in coordinating power washing with property owners.
4. Finance Committee Report
(a) For the committee, G. Stalans gave an overview of financials as of December 31, 2020: approximating $500,000 in bank account, revenue $942,000, expenditures $459,000.
(b) After a discussion of the edited and refined criteria for non-profit requests for abatement, it was decided to refer the non-profits to the information on the DCA website. Any request for abatement from a non-profit is due by the end of January with a board decision on the request at the February meeting. (Assessment fees are due by the end of February.)
5. Executive Director Report
(a) S. Brookes reported on the success of the E Gift Card program. Both recipients and business owners were appreciative of the program. Next steps include the need to quantify how recipients of the cards spent the money (whether they spent beyond the $25 amount) and to decide how many times per year the program should be implemented.
(b) There was discussion of hiring a part-time administrative assistant for S. Brookes and launching a RFP from public relations firms.
(c) There was discussion of a Cash for Trash program, perhaps on a 2- month pilot program basis.
The meeting adjourned at 3:31.
