Location: Waterhouse Pavilion, Miller Plaza, Chattanooga, TN 37402

1. Call to Order

Steve Hunt, Chairman of the Chattanooga BID, called the meeting to order. Executive Committee members attending were Kelly Fitzgerald (by telephone), Charles Perry, and Gordon Stalans (by telephone).

Also present were Julia Bursch of River City Company and Steve Brookes, Executive Director of the Chattanooga BID.

2. Old Business

(a)  The Block by Block contract was discussed. A final contract is expected shortly. A tentative opening date is August 1. Other issues discussed included whether to rent or buy equipment, the number of hours ambassadors would work in relation to specific changes as needs change,  and the make-up of the work force. 

(b) Next steps in locating office space for the DCA were also discussed.

(c) S. Brookes will send an invitation for a walk of the district.

3. New Business

(a) A draft of the Executive Director’s position statement for the Alliance regarding our support of  Black and Brown and other underrepresented groups was discussed. The idea of a Community Outreach Committee was also discussed.

(b) The opening of the DCA was discussed, with the possibility of a “soft opening” to be followed by a more formal launch.

(c) For the Finance Committee, G. Stalans gave an overview of the current state of collections, the status of requests from non-profits for abatement/reduction of their assessments, and the status of our 501 C3 application.

(d) S. Brookes gave a report on his work on an employee handbook, first steps on cleaning the district, and how the DCA might be introduced to homeless people in the district, among other matters. Brookes also addressed the Alliance’s participation in the International Downtown Association. 

The meeting adjourned at 3:40. 

 











DCA
